State Representative John Davis, a 10-year republican incumbent in the NASA area, raised only $49,000 according to his 30-day out campaign finance report, almost half, $22,500, of which came from one single donor, home builder Bob Perry. Bob Perry also financed 75% of Davis' primary race against Jon Keeney.Sherrie Matula, his opponent, raised over $125,000 in the same period, over 3 times as much, and has $136,000 cash on hand compared to Davis' $62,000.
Davis also received another $4000 from home builders and home builder special interests. Keeping with his support of the insurance and power industries, he recieved $1700 from insurance related donors and $750 from Reliant Energy PAC and Strake Energy.
You would figure that a 10-year incumbent would be able to raise money on his own and not depend on one individual to fund his fledging campaign.
Go figure.
