Rep. Dan Flynn, a member of the Sunset Commission that will help decide if the agency survives, wondered why, if TRCC was fair and unbiased, was there such a disconnect between consumers and the agency? This was followed by a long and loud moment of silence, followed by laughter (as least in the over flow room). The question was asked to John Krugh, Vice President of Bob Perry Homes who wrote the bill that created the commission and who was appointed to the Commission by Governor Perry.
He just sat there with an incredibly stupid look on his face, frozen in place. He eventually got bailed out by Duane Waddill, the Executive Director, who is fighting to keep his job. Duane simply blamed it on ignorant Texans.
Why the disconnect?
There is a huge disconnect because those who created the commission (John Krugh) never consulted with the consumers or consumer organizations to understand the problem they were trying to solve. It should come as no surprise that this commission helps the builders and not the consumers.
It was simply designed that way.

Mrs.McClendon Jones seems to be leading the march to keep TRCC. Why? It is obvious the people who are supposed to benefit from it do not want it. It is worthless.
Wasn't a comment made during the testimony that stated the builders need and benefit from TRCC and one of TRCC's own gave one of the most knee deep testimony that made me want to walkout of the room. If anyone believed his c**p I have a bridge to sell.
The whole thing was quite Unremarkable!!!
That was such a farce of a hearing.
Except for Senator Hinojosa, the members of the Commission couldn't stand in line fast enough to kiss the home building industry's ass.
If you wanted to know what was wrong with government, that hearing was a case study.
