Republican's Outsourcing Their Protesting?

Leave it to the Republicans to outsource their protesting of Democratic candidate, Judge Susan Criss for Texas Supreme Court. According to Capitol Annex:
An event attendee approached the protesters to ask who they were, when they admitted they were hired by a temporary agency to stand there and, in fact, had no idea who Judge Criss is.
Well, they've outsourced everything else. It is sad that there is not enough interest for real republicans to come out in the hot sun and sport a sign, or a belly button.

If it's good enough for Big labor (a Dem constituency), it's good enough for the GOP.

Expect to see another roosting of goonbats today at the Clinton appearance (at the IBEW hall next to the HCDP HQ).

I bet there will be an extreme right wing group of the republican party there to spread their hatred for Hillary because they have nothing positive to say about their candidates. Any of them.

On second thought the only remaining republicans are all hate mongers anyway.

Republicans are good at this stuff. I remember years ago nearly getting into a fistfight with a hired goon working for the GOP. This guy and some others showed up at a Dukakis speech, dressed in jail stripe uniforms, wearing signs like "convicts for Dukakis". Happened at Dukakis events all over the country. We later learned that in fact they had been paid by the Republican Party, back when Lee Atwater was in charge of GOP dirty tricks.

Republicans can't campaign on ideas or values or policies or their record - so they do this BS. Glad to see the Galveston paper reported they were paid lackeys.

You're about 90% correct, John.

But I wouldn't look for an angry crowd of Hillary haters to show up. With 14 Ron Paul Meetup groups in the Houston area to choose from, people who prefer real choice in the election process have much better things to spend their time on.

Oops... Looks like I posted a bit too soon. Apparently organizing libertarian and libertarian leaning individuals is about as easy as herding cats. Four or five of the 600+ Ron Paul meetup members are taking a break from pushing cards and blockwalks to welcome Ms. Clinton to Houston.

"Hillary is coming to town today. Get signs, stand there and shadow her until she gets on the property. Show her that this is Ron Paul country. No screaming needed unless people want to. Just a show of support against her! Simple. We may have to march down the road because I'm not sure what is private property and what is not."

Well, Bob was right.

There were Ron Paul people there. All 3 of them. One didn't have any teeth, the other was gross looking and talking to himself at times, and the other was quite the sane individual, although pretty ignorant.

No republicans. Not even any paid protesters.

Good job.

Are you sure you're not exaggerating just a little, John? Here's some event feedback from one of the Ron Paul supporters:

"There was another group there opposing Hillary's war platform. So we were able to meet a lot of people and some of them didn't like Ron Paul and some did, but they didn't have any problem with us being there amongst them. We got a lot of information out to people coming out of the place."

Yup, sounds like they did a good job. They respected the rights of others while expressing their individual political opinions, and interacted with people of differing viewpoints.

When people (even Hillary supporters) inform themselves, make their own decisions, and actively participate in the political process, I really don't care what they look like.

That applies to you too, John ;)

You didnt read my post.

I just said that one had no teeth, one was a loon, and the other was sane.

As for being effective? The guy who was a loon kept passing out little slips of paper, like a fortune cookie. People took it not knowing what it was.

There were alot of little slips of paper on the ground afterwards.

And he kinda stunk also.

The sane one actually believes ron paul is going to be president.

The one without teeth was somehow talking about health care. Go figure.

Gross Old Paul supporters.

"Show her that this is Ron Paul country."

Bob, even you don't believe that.

Not even Ron Paul country is Ron Paul country.

The sign actually said "This is Ron Paul COUNTY"

If the spelling error bothers folks perhaps they should advocate literacy tests for expressing political opinions.

Iowa straw poll results:

Mitt Romney: 4,516 votes
Mike Huckabee: 2,587 votes
Sam Brownback: 2,192 votes
Tom Tancredo: 1,961 votes
Ron Paul: 1,305 votes
Tommy Thompson: 1,039 votes
Fred Thompson: 203 votes
Rudy Giuliani: 183 votes
Duncan Hunter: 174 votes
John McCain: 101 votes
John Cox: 41 votes

Not too surprisingly, the "big winner" was the biggest spender. Also not too surprisingly, the AP, NBC, FOX and other media mentioned the no-shows and also-rans far more often than the guy who came in 5th while spending very little money.

No, this is not "Ron Paul country." But perhaps it should be.

John Coby said...

Wow! That is the best 5th place showing I've ever seen. Way to go Ron!

And to think that Mike Huckabee, Sam Brownback, Tom Tancredo beat Paul. Egads.

p.s. How is Ron Paul's wife doing? I heard she was sent to the hospital. Hopefully everything will be fine.

I think the results of the Iowa straw poll ought to be as meaningful to Ron Paul as they are to Mitt Romney, which is to say not at all.

This was a contest to see who could spend the most money to bus "voters" in, feed them and entertain them. Obviously Mitt spent the most and therefore had the most votes. Beyond that it really has no point. Neither Romney nor Paul will ever be president, no matter what happened in Ames.

Neither will any other republican.

Monica blew it for the Democrats in 2000.

W blew it for the republicans in 2008.

Two pieces to read in the current "Atlantic Monthly", just out or about to be out on the newsstands:

One is about Karl Rove - it basically consists of Republicans describing why he has been such a disaster for George W and the Republican Party; the second is about recently resigned Bush speechwriter Mike Gerson, an article written by one of his fellow White House speechwriter, basically calls Gerson a fraud, a self-promoter and a liar.

It seems like the best cheerleaders for the Democrats right now are actually the Republicans.
