Congressman Nick Lampson received the endorsement of the Veterans of Foreign Wars today in Pearland. Nick was introduced by Rick Noriega a Lt Colonel in the National Guard and a veteran of the Afhganistan war.HOUSTON - The national Veterans of Foreign Wars PAC has endorsed Democrat Nick Lampson in his race for former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's seat, an endorsement that Lampson's campaign says helps debunk claims that he is a liberal.
Unlike many Democrats in Congress, Lampson opposes setting a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq. As a congressman, Lampson supported President Bush's request to authorize force in Iraq, but says he now realizes that request was based on bad intelligence.
Lampson says he would instead defer to military officials in Iraq to advise Congress when Iraqi forces are sufficiently strong to accomplish their own objectives.
