Early Voting. Silly Sekula. Voting problems.

Well early voting started out with interesting problems.

Early this morning, a new early voting location off of Navigation was opened with a rally by local candidates. Afterwards, they all went to be the first to vote in the new location. And the voting machines were down. After 20 minutes the machines were still down. Thanks goodness we have this new, secure, easy to use, ee-lectronic voting ma-cheens. Will it ever be possible to return to paper? Or plastic?

And Silly Sekula was out shaking a few hands, and I do mean a "few" in the Clear Lake Area. She was standing with her paid volunteers working for $12.00/Hour reminding people to "vote twice for Silly!" and handing out a three page instruction booklet on how to write-in vote. The instructions took longer to read than to vote straight Democratic ticket. Many inside of the voting area were clearly upset on the procedured to vote, except those voting for Nick Lampson.

Of course, I had to vote my favorite Steve Stockman in the special election hoping to see a very spirited run-off between Silly Sekula Gibbs and Steve "Laughing" Stockman in December for the title "Congressman for a month".

And more voting problems in Clear Lake with the judges and clerks talking with voters about Tom DeLay and who was replacing him as a write-in candidate, and how to vote straight Republican. These instances were immediately reported to Beverly Kaufman's office so they could quickly ignore them.

Just 14 days to go. Thank goodness.

Hmm. Shelley was supposed to be out here in Sugar Land doing the early voting hand shaking routine at 9 a.m. Right down the street from me at my early voting location. Wonder if she made it?

Who cares? She is going to beat Lampson anyway!

I am a moderate that has already voted a split ticket. It would seam logical that everyone one else follow the dictates of their own conscience. That means voting for the best candidate not for a straight party lock step brainless blind alliance to any political party. The Democrats, like the Republicans, also have policies and platform issues that are based on very special interests that can be distasteful to the larges section of Americans, the Middle class. Radical extremism at the far right and left has ruined both parties. Those radicals should find a welcome home in the Green, Libertarian or American parties. Forced tolerance of the extremists is very wearing thin.

Previously mentioned were the platform issues that are generally unacceptable to Middle America. They do not need to be repeated since they are well known to many. The real problem is that there is no MODERATE party that represents the majority of Americans. Special interest groups with very specific agenda which some times are very unacceptable to many have gotten the ear of each party and the positions and tactics arte employed to promote and defend such unacceptable special interests. Both political parties are for sale to the highest contributors.

Do not assume that the many citizens who are apposed to the ridiculous war and the ineptitude of the administration are Democrats. I had to hold my nose while voting for some candidates because the quality of the candidates was so very poor. The political machinery of each party controls who is to run for many of the seats of power. The Democrats are just as manipulative as the Republicans are. Neither garners very much credibility if they continue to operate in a less than respectful manner.

Tom DeLay’s former district TX-22 will be a very close call and may now be taken by a “write in” candidate, Shelley Sekula-Gibbs. Nick Lampson who has been campaigning for a very long time has been very Latino "illegal alien" friendly and will not expound beyond the talking points about the war or other critical issues. The Democratic Party itself is largely at fault for the unpopular position. The Democratic Party should never be the party of LULAC or LaRaza. The Senate race has the same problem. The greatest single issue is that Lampson is weak on "illegal aliens.” That is directly in opposition to the majority of votes in the district. His opponent however has made the problem of the border invaders an issue and that is appealing to the voters who are fed up with the invasion of Latinos. Nick Lampson could learn something from Lou Dobbs’s “War on the Middle Class.”

I “walked” the district “with Nick's knob hangers and talking points.” I heard first hand about the concerns of the residents. Many of those residents had some powerful reservations about voting for any one that was unwilling to deal with the immigration problem.
The two three thorny issues are
1. The illegal immigration problem as created by in ineffective government,
2. The endless war and corruption.
The statistics show that 65% of the district votes Republican.
When residents want to talk about these issues, the volunteers were told to stick to the vague talking points. Why is that? It makes no sense to support unpopular positions.

Republican Kay Bailey Hutchinson will probably retain her seat because her opponent Barbara Ann R. is very liberal in every sense of the word. She models her self after L.B.J. of all people. She does that to get the black voters. She is a 50-year-old white woman that has never been elected to any office. As a politician, she has the talking points and the ability to side step questions away from the issues that concern Texas voters.

The Texas governor race will probably go the Republican incumbent Rick Perry. The best person for the job perhaps is Independent Carol Keton Rylander. The Democratic candidate Chris Bell (who lost his US representative seat due to redistricting efforts of Tom DeLay) is very milk toast mild and a lock step party line Democrat. That makes him a loser in a heavily conservative red state.
