Sherrie Matula accepts debate invitation.

Sherrie Matula, candidate for State Representative District 129 has accepted an invitation from the Clear Lake High School Debate Club to debate the issues on education, insurance, the environment, as well as others. The Clear Lake Debate Club is remembered for organizing and conducting a very successful debate two years ago for the Congressional race between Tom DeLay and Richard Morrison. This was the first time a debate was held for the Congressional District.

This year, with a competitive State Representative race in the district, they are organizing a debate on state issues. “It is wonderful high school students are getting involved with the politics that will affect their schools, their community, and their future. As a former teacher, I am honored to accept the invitation and look forward to the event.” said Sherrie Matula.

Sherrie Matula, a two term Clear Creek Independent School District board member, a teacher for 25 years, has lobbied on the state and federal level for public schools, and has been a very active member in her Community serving on the Clear Lake Symphony Board and the Middlebrook Community Association Board. She looks forward to debating her opponents failed policies on insurance reform, the continued attack on our public schools, and his record on the environment.

Her opponent, State Representative John Davis, has not yet accepted the invitation to debate. “I am ready and willing, to debate anytime, any place, on any issue affecting our community. The date and time is up to Representative Davis.” stated Matula.
