The Sugar Daddy of Texas politics.

The campaign finance reports from the Texas Ethics Commission for homebuilder Bob Perry gives him the right to the prestigious title of "Texas Sugar Daddy". A complete analysis of his contributions since 2000 will be coming soon. If you can't wait, the spreadsheet can be found here.

  • Total contributions reported $12.9 Million
  • Total to Governor Rick Perry $840,000
  • Total to Attorney General Greg Abbott $783,000
  • Total to Joe Nixon $220,000 (he got trampled in the primary)
  • Total to Texans for Lawsuit Reform $1.2 Million
  • Largest donations to a Democrat John Whitmire $53,000
  • Largest donation to a Republican Govenor Perry $840,000
  • Largest one time donation Greg Abbott $150,000
  • Donations to State Representative Allan Ritter(D) $62,000*
  • Donations to TRMPAC $170,000**
  • Single Donation to State Representative Ron Wilson (D) $30,000***

* State Representative Allan Ritter filed the bill that created the Texas Residential Construction Commission which provides protection for Bob Perry's homebuilding industry.

**TRMPAC was involved in the Tom DeLay investigation

***State Representative Ron Wilson (D) supported the re-districting bill. He lost his seat in the primary.

"Swift Boat Bob" is going to have spend a whole lot more money, and he's still going to lose a few of his 'good friends'.

Unfortunately, there are other Democrats that are tainted by Bob Perry's money, including some of our very own in Houston/Harris County.

I think the Party needs to demand more of its candidates/office holders, like: "Don't accept money from Bob Perry!"
