Ron Paul. A taxpayer's Zero.

Congressman Ron Paul in the Galveston County area is known for his anti-tax votes, sometimes being called the "taxpayers hero". But, he thinks he has done such a great job, he has no problems sucking off the tit of the government for $168,000/year of our tax dollars. So he really isn't a hero. More like a zero.

But in a strange twist, according to the Baytown Sun
Shane Sklar, a Democrat running against Republican Congressman Ron Paul, accused Paul of hypocritically touting Texas hurricane relief funding in a bill, which he actually voted against.

Paul, a former Libertarian Party presidential candidate, represents Texas District 14, which includes Chambers County.

A Sklar release stated that Paul “triumphantly announced that Congress had passed hurricane relief funding and that (Paul) had worked to have 90 percent reimbursement for Texas communities affected by Hurricane Rita” included in the bill, called The Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Defense, the Global War on Terror, and Hurricane Recovery.

...

But while Paul took credit in a press release for the Texas funding in the bill, “the release fails to mention, however, that Paul voted against the bill.
So not only does Paul have his lips sewn to the tit of the government, he is taking credit for providing the milk! Keep sucking Ronnie! You are doing a hell of a job!

Read Capitol Annex's very funny post about the Ron Paul Republicans and the Ron Paul Barbeque - http://capitolannex.com/2006/06/27/pass-the-ribs-get-out-your-bibs-its-time-for-the-ron-paul-bbq-woo-hoo/

I couldn't help but think the post was about barbequeing Ron Paul. Maybe on Shane Sklar's ranch? I'd pay money for that.

Ron-A-Que

I bet both Shane Sklar and Hank Gilbert know how to slow smoke a Ron Paul. Ron Paul republicans are on the cusp of edible meats, a bit gristly and sour tasting for most appetites.

How interesting that the Galveston Daily News didn't carry one word about Sklar's charges. You'd think that a newspaper serving residents of a barrier island might be interested in whether the area congressman voted in favor of hurricane relief. Not the GDN, or it's VERY Republican publisher, Dolph Tillotson.
